SIMON
Just like Bubba, Simon is originally from the north bank of the river Gambia and he came to try his luck in the tourist industry, since in his own neighbourhood there was only the prospect of working in the rice fields. His real name is Mohammed (but if you mention that name on the beach nobody knows whom you are talking about), he is in his mid thirties, single and a real easy-going bloke with a very particular, expressive way of telling his stories. Although he is a bit of a freeloader and is generally known for that, he, too, sends most of the money he makes to his mother in his hometown. Simon loves making two-day trips to Georgetown with the tourists, because he comes from this area and hence is well-informed about all the local sights. He really loves children and likes playing with our grandchildren on the beach.
